Ahhh! One, I love that you’re doing interviews especially since our taste overlaps so this will be extra exciting for me 🤭 Two, loved this conversation. His thoughts around masculinity and criticism are spot on 🎯 hahaha
Great interview! I am excited to read this book, having lived in Copenhagen for a long time. Masculinity compared between American and Danish norms seems incredibly rich, and seeing them through Reuben's American perspective is something I look forward too. Especially because the relationship between the two nations are up for debate once again politically.
Unrelated question: What does Andrew mean when he refers to his writing process resembling the factory system of John Grisham and Michael Crichton, yet his system is different because he orders himself around? From what I can tell from a (superficial) search into both authors' methods, they also make their own structure and deadlines. So isn't that the same? And what is meant by "factory system" in the first place? I am not out to fact check or call out, but I think writing processes and the personal conceptualizations of these processes are very interesting, and I would like to know more.
Based on his answers, I suspect Andrew and I would get along.
Great interview -- adding the novels to my queue.
I suspect you might, too. Thanks my man!

this sounds great
Great interview, thank you for posting. Looking forward to more of these Q&As, Andrew.
Thanks a lot, Jeffrey! Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
Loved this and buying all his books. Any writer who takes their work seriously but not themselves is right up my alley.
It’s a great way to be
I will autobuy anything Andrew Lipstein writes. Loved this, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for reading!
Super excited to listen to this!
