My book club recently read Yellowface and I recommended Victim to them as (I think) a nice companion piece, and when I told them a little about it they were all very interested. Not that they are the same book at all, but in my opinion they touch on a lot of the same themes.
Love that you referenced Claude McKay’s joint. That was a foundational text for me. Right up there with Manchild in the Promised Land and Down These Mean Streets
Loved Victim—sharp, hilarious, and uncomfortably real. It captures the weird tension of identity in today’s culture without pandering. Totally agree: the discomfort is the point. Grateful this book exists.
Thank you, Cristina! And thank you for all the support that you and the store has shown the novel. I’m immensely grateful. Look forward to seeing you there

Definitely similar themes! Hope your book club gives Victim a chance.
you’re going to be on a panel with Dave Barry???
I am! Excited for that
I gotta tap in! Feel you on the part about the best literature making the reader uncomfortable cause reality is uncomfortable!

Given your recent piece (which was great btw) I really think you’d enjoy it
Amen 🙏
Not sure how I missed hearing about this book last year but very excited to read it!
Great read!
Thank you Emma! Hope you enjoy, and congrats on your recent debut as well!

Fantastic book.
Can't wait to hear you speak on the Miami Satirists panel at Books & Books!

Loved your book. Potent and super relevant. It's perfect, the confused reception. Complexity is a writer's best friend. Ditto non-easy-categorization.
Thank you Michael!
A gem that stands the test of time!!!!
Thank you Letitia :)
