This is such great writer, especially in this era. My favorite sentence: "Within two years, I had a draft of a brand new novel, with Javi being a dick at the forefront, and it was quickly sold."
True. Writing is not a spectator sport. Five hundred words a day is a good minimum to aim for. Not every day is leg day. Mix it up with genre novel, feature writing like this blog, short stories and novellas. Screenplays are a lot of fun too.
“To try smashing the glass you’ve encased your early efforts in.” This spoke to my soul. Thank you for these words and for all your words. Cannot wait to read Victim!
It's really interesting to read about your process—I would say a satire is fun when we get to watch the hero behaving badly but all the while telling us they're doing it for the "right" reasons (look at Shiv on Succession). It's the juxtaposition of the bad behavior and the self-righteous justifications that reveals the hypocrisies, makes us laugh
Thank you, Leigh! And I am in total agreement with you. One of the things I'm most proud about the book is that Javi doesn't take some righteous turn at the end to do right and make amends and so on. The whole time he really believes he's not the bad guy---even at the end when everything blows up.

Thank you, Sherman! Means a hell of a lot coming from you. Appreciate you reading.

Agreed, Michael. Love the workout reference, I tend to think like that too. Thanks for reading and for the comment!

Excellent write-up -- I'm sure most of us would benefit from more purging :) Thanks for the reminder, and best of luck with the book launch!
Thanks a lot, MJ! Appreciate that, and you reading and engaging.
