I just thought of a piece of media depicting a modern dad: Nightbitch. I'm reading the novel now and mostly digging it, but I'm finding the husband/dad character to be so tone-deaf and aloof as to be unbelievable. I get the intention, but even I'm like: I would kill that motherfucker if he was my husband.
Yeah part of what has inspired the new thing I’m working on is reading novels like that one, which I actually really enjoyed, and thinking wait who are these husbands/dads? They don’t sound anything like what I live or see. All Fours had the same problem for me
